If you’re looking for Stihl’s most professional, powerful chainsaw, then read this Stihl MS361 chainsaw review & learn why you gotta have this powerhorse.

If Stihl was forced to get rid of its entire line of chainsaws, save one, they would undoubtedly leave the Stihl MS361 chainsaw untouched.

Almost all of Stihl’s tools are professional grade–even the lightest, most compact models can be used with pride by any member of a construction crew–but some simply have more power and versatility than others, making them perfect choices for serious projects.

The Stihl MS361 is one such tool.

Stihl MS361 Review

This high tech, high quality, and high performance chainsaw is among the best–not only within Stihl’s catalog of various saws, but in the entire market.

The MS361 is capable of housing a 24″ bar (making it possible to cut through just about any tree in your backyard or lot), but works the best when you have an 18″ or 20″ bar on there that you can really maneuver.

As powerful as its 4.4 horsepower, 59 cc engine may be, you hardly feel a thing when it’s purring in your hands because of the innovative (and newly redesigned) anti-vibration system.

Consumers are in love with the power this chainsaw possesses as well as its inherent ease of use–tool-less air filter, fuel cap, oil cap, and spark plug access.

There really aren’t very many downsides to choosing this model over any other. Some people complain that it’s too heavy (weighing in at a hair over 12 pounds), but if you’re looking for the kind power the Stihl MS361 chainsaw affords, you’re going to have to deal with a bigger engine, and therefore higher weight. That’s just a fact.

The MS361 is also a bit tiresome trying to cold start. There are other brands and models (like the Arctic) that are designed for quick cold starts, but you’ll just have to live with 4-5 pulls it takes to get the MS361 up and running.

And, of course, price is always a factor. But if you’re looking to buy a really fantastic, professional grade chainsaw with enough get up and go to help you clear an entire forest, then you know you’re going to have to pay a pretty penny. And why not put that penny towards one of the best machines out there: the Stihl MS361? Why not, indeed.

Stihl MS361 Specifications

In order for you to get the best possible mental picture of the Stihl MS361 chainsaw, here’s a look at a few of its details:

  • Displacement: 59 cc
  • Engine: 4.4 horsepower, 3.3 kW
  • Weight: 12.3 pounds
  • Fuel Facility: 23.2 ounces
  • Chain Width: 3/8

Stihl MS361C: The Verdict

There are a number of reasons why you should choose Stihl brand chainsaws over the competition, and most of them can be found within the MS361.

  • Made with the highest quality materials
  • Built to last decades, not just years
  • Stihl MS361 parts are widely available

This is a powerful, durable, and reliable machine that has yet to have a major flaw pointed out by anyone.

If you’re on a tighter budget, and don’t necessarily need the power that the MS361 affords, then you might want to consider getting a smaller model that’s less expensive.

But if you’re on the prowl for an excellent all-around chainsaw that won’t crap out on you during a tough job, think about putting the money down for the Stihl MS361.

my 361 really snorts, I lay it into a very large oak and it will not even slow down, chips shoot out so fast it looks like they are being sprayed out of a firehose. Its a little hard to start, but the plus power and performance makes it worth it. I cut four years of firewood in a matter of a few weeks where as my 250 would of taken me a few months
