In the market for a Makita table saw?  Any committed woodworker requires a table saw. Whether you are using it for a hobby or completing a large construction project, a Makita table saw is a must have.

Makita is a well known brand that has been on the market for decades.  Their reputation makes them stand strong against competition.

Most of the Makita models are geared toward home improvement use.  Most users of Makita favor the 2704 model but the Makita table saw 2708 is beginning to take notice and become a popular Makita table saw as well.  Below is a review and comparison of the two Makita table saws.

Makita Table Saw Reviews: 2708 & 2704

The Makita table saw 2708 is a newer and more expensive model used by contractors and homeowners alike.  The model is a lot bigger than the other Makita table saws and used more by large project users such as builders, contractors and business owners.  This model is not used as much by the at home project person or hobbyist due in part because of the expense.  For a lot less, you can own the Makita table saw 2704 and get the job done.

The 2708 model offers a large cutting capacity much like the other models but is heavier duty.  The model is able to rip 4x in just one pass as most Makita table saws are advertised.  This heavy duty saw is able to do a lot more and handle bigger projects.

Makita Table Saw 2704 Review

The Makita table saw 2704 can be bought with the stand or without and is known for its cutting capacity.  In fact, both the Makita table saw 2708 and the 2704 model have a great cutting capacity.

One of the only differences found in the 2704 model is the price. This model is less expensive than the 2708 model.

Some of the top features about this table saw are the following:

  • Cutting capacity – the large cutting capacity rips four times the material or 4x in just one pass.  This is an advertising feature of the Makita table saw and actually passes the test.
  • Warranty – Makita offers a one year warranty on this table saw and knowing their reputation, this is a great feature that will probably not be used.  Contractors and builders alike swear by Makita and most do not need to utilize the warranty, but in the event that something breaks down or fails the warranty is there for protection for the first year.
  • Accessories – the Makita table saw 2704 comes with carbide tipped blade, as well as a miter gauge that is angled, two wrenches, a socket wrench, and a rip fence.  Not only do you get the saw and table, but several amenities that can be used on your woodworking project.
